A Few of My Favorite Things

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. (Philippians 4:8)

“A few of my favorite things” is not a reference to “raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.” Instead, it’s a wonderful assortment of experiences as we enter into the second half of the fall semester here at Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University:.

Students, staff, and faculty gathering in Hamma Library on Monday mornings to share joys and concerns, coffee, and prayers as we begin each week.

Interns returning to campus for Trinity Days, sharing their experiences of learning and growth in their new ministry contexts.

A second-year student Zooming into his classes from home as he and his wife bond with their newborn daughter.

An alum and his wife welcoming twins – in the middle of packing to move to a new call.

A 2024 graduate sharing news of his first call and upcoming ordination.

Another 2024 graduate reporting on her newfound sense of community as she engages in further graduate study at a major university.

Our first Annual Trout Day of Giving, to grow the endowment that supports the annual Nelson W. Trout Lectures in Preaching, honoring the first African American Lutheran bishop in the U.S.

Expanding our theological education outreach as the Rev. Dr. Kevin Dudley offers a section of our master’s level Faith Seeking Understanding course on Saturday mornings in a local church.

Installing our newest faculty member, the Rev. Dr. Baiju Markose, as Assistant Professor of Systematic and Constructive Theology.

Exciting conversations with candidates who are interested in filling our vacant Contextual Education position.

Each day brings new opportunities as we live out Trinity’s mission of forming leaders for Christ’s church at world in the world. God continues to bless this community of grace, and we count you, dear readers, among our blessings!
